The Arts Centre
Our Arts Centreis the
largest in mid and west Wales. It was recently extended in a £4 million
project. Over 460,000 people visit the Art Centre every year to enjoy
its wide and varied programme of events. These range from drama to classical
music, dance, world music, films, children's shows, literature readings,
live bands to opera and comedy. The Arts Centre's exhibition programme
is one of the few in Wales acknowledged by the Arts Council as a Centre
of Excellence and offers you an excellent programme of exhibitions. There
are many courses in art, drama, dance and music throughout the year, which
are very popular with both students and the local community.
Societies
Think of a pastime and you can be fairly certain that one of the University's
160 clubs and societies will be involved with it. You will discover that
Clubs and Societies are a buoyant and thriving feature of student life
at Aberystwyth. They range from tiddlywinks and chess to political societies
and you can access all of them through the Union of Students.
The Music Centre
You will find that Aberystwyth is rich in opportunities for student musicians.
There are numerous choirs, symphony and chamber orchestras, brass and
wind bands and plenty of chances for music-making of all kinds. Instrumental
and vocal tuition is also available. The Music Centre houses practice
rooms and the elegant Joseph Parry Hall, the venue for a regular series
of lunchtime recitals - a recent national survey gave Aberystwyth a top
rating for the number of concerts. Orchestral musicians can compete for
the valuable Music Bursaries. more.. |
