A dedicated helpline for students worried about debt and money problems has been set up by a charity.
The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) aims that its new helpline will help prevent students from giving up study because of debt.
The CCCS, which helps more than 100,000 people a year with debt problems, has trained a number of its counsellors to deal specifically with student debt.
Counsellors are trained to understand student loans and other benefits to which students are entitled.
Students are a special case according to the charity as there may well be no money to pay off debts for a number of years, but graduate salaries can increase very quickly.
The student debtline is available on 0800 328 1813. Lines are open 8am-8pm, Monday to Friday.
